Wait, is my gift list public?
It is the first question people ask.
It is worth asking, because a link does not stay where you put it. The address gets pasted into a group chat, and from there it travels on its own.
So here is the answer for Belovity, up front. One setting on your family page decides who can open it, and you can find it, change it, and undo it in under a minute.
And before anything else: a brand-new Belovity family page is private the moment it exists.
The one setting that decides everything
Where it lives
Your family page, then Settings, then the setting labeled GIFT LIST VISIBILITY.
There are two options. No third state, no sliders.
Followers only. Or Anyone with link.
Only owners and admins of the family page can reach that screen at all.
What "Followers only" actually does
Your page opens for exactly two groups: the people running the page, and the followers you approved.
Anyone else does not get a request-access screen or a partial preview. The page does not load. They are bounced away, signed in or not.
A forwarded link is just an address that goes nowhere for them.
This is the setting a new family page starts on. You do not have to go turn privacy on.
What "Anyone with link" actually does
Anyone holding the link can open the page and browse your gift lists.
That is useful when you are sending one link to a big group and you would rather not approve fifty people one at a time.
Here is the important limit: browsing is not the same as participating.
Marking an item as purchased still requires being a follower. A visitor who tries gets a "Must be a follower" prompt, with the option to send a follow request right there.
So even wide open, there is a line. Strangers can look. Only approved followers can act.
A distinction worth calling out
Page visibility and search visibility are two different settings.
Making a page shareable does not quietly list it in search results.
And switching the page back to Followers only switches search visibility off along with it, so the two cannot drift into a bad combination.
How people actually get in
There are exactly two doors, and they behave differently. Knowing which is which is the whole article.
Door one: the invite link
You will find it on your Followers page, under Invite Link.
One click copies it. It is built on a random token minted for your page when it was created.
Sending it is an invitation, not a queue. Someone who opens it, signs in, and accepts becomes a follower right then.
There is no approval step. That is the tradeoff. It is fast, and it is why the link is worth protecting.
Which is exactly why the next section exists.
Door two: the follow request
Someone who finds your page another way can send a follow request instead. A public page, a search result, a link that came along with a purchase.
The request does not grant anything. It sits in a queue and waits for you.
You will see it on the Followers page under Pending approvals, with who asked and the date they asked.
You get told about it through the normal notification system, by email and browser push, according to your notification preferences.
People can withdraw their own request too, so a stale queue tends to clear itself.
Handling requests: approve, deny, or do it in bulk
One at a time
Approve, and they become a follower. They are immediately granted access to any gift list you marked as visible to followers by default.
Deny, and the request is closed out. No message goes out announcing it.
Every approval and denial is confirmed before it happens, with the person's name in the prompt.
All at once
Select multiple pending requests and use Approve selected or Deny selected.
That is the practical option for the wave that arrives right after you send the link to a group.
Bulk approve applies the same default gift-list access as approving one by one.
Removing someone later
Remove follower sits on the Followers page, for one person or for several at once with Remove selected followers.
Their follower record and every permission attached to it are deleted together.
Access ends immediately. The next page they load on a Followers-only page bounces them like any other stranger.
People can also unfollow you on their own, which does the same thing from the other side.
The reset button: regenerating your invite link
Why it matters
An invite link is a key, and keys get copied.
You send it to one person, they forward it to two more, and after a while you genuinely cannot say where it ended up.
That is fine, as long as you can change the lock.
What Belovity does
Regenerate Link sits right inside the Invite Link dialog, marked as the destructive option it is.
It asks you to confirm first, and tells you exactly what will happen.
The old link stops working the second you regenerate. Anyone holding a copy gets the invalid-invitation screen.
Existing followers and pending requests are untouched. You are replacing the key, not evicting the people you already let in.
Do it as often as you like. There is no penalty and no limit.
When to use it
The event is over and you would rather the link stopped circulating.
You sent it to a group thread that got bigger than you expected.
You just changed your mind.
How Belovity approaches it
Private by default. You never have to discover a setting to protect yourself. The unsafe state is the one you would have to deliberately choose.
Two options, not twelve. You can explain your own privacy setting to someone else in one sentence.
Denied means the page will not load. The setting is enforced when the page is requested, not just by hiding a button. Signed-out visitors are judged by the same rules.
Requests wait for you. Nobody joins your family page by being fast or persistent.
Bulk approve and deny. Privacy that does not become a second job when thirty people show up at once.
Removal takes effect immediately. No lingering session, no grace period.
A replaceable invite link. Sharing widely is reversible. A link is a temporary thing, not a permanent grant.
Followers-only actions on a public page. Even the open setting keeps purchases attached to real, approved people.
Owner and admin only. The person who can change who gets in is the person who owns the page.

Anyone who hears about it secondhand and tries the address sees nothing.
After the shower, regenerate the link.
The wedding list going out to a big guest list
Visibility set to Anyone with link, dropped into the invitation and the wedding website.
Guests browse without an account hurdle.
The moment someone marks a gift as purchased, they are prompted to follow, so the people acting on your list are people you approved.
Requests come in as a batch. Approve them in bulk in one sitting.
The extended-family page that stays up year-round
Visibility set to Followers only, permanently.
Requests reviewed one at a time as relatives find the page.
A follower removed after a falling-out loses access on their next click.
Invite link regenerated once a year out of habit.
Checklist: audit your own gift list in five minutes
Open your family page's Settings and read the GIFT LIST VISIBILITY setting out loud. Is it the one you thought it was?
Open your Followers page. Do you recognize every name on the list?
Check the Pending approvals tab. Is anything waiting there that you forgot about?
Ask yourself where your invite link has been sent. If you cannot account for all of it, regenerate it.
Open your page's address in a private browser window while signed out. Whatever loads there is what a stranger sees.
Then do the same audit on any other registry you are using. Look specifically for three things: a way to replace the share link, a way to remove someone, and a way to see who has access.
Choose, approve, revoke
Privacy on a gift list comes down to three verbs. Choose who can open it, approve who gets in, revoke it when you want to.
Belovity gives you all three in the same two screens. Settings for who can open it, Followers for who is in and who is asking.
Nothing about it is buried, and nothing about it is permanent. Change your mind as often as you want.
